MEDICINE HAT, AB – His WHL career isn’t slated to officially start for another 12 months, but Oasiz Wiesblatt is taking in all he can at the Canalta Centre.

The 15-year-old wrapped up his first training camp in Tigers stripes on Sunday, playing in the early intra-squad game for Team Teal.

Wiesblatt is coming off a 55-point campaign with the Calgary Bantam AAA Bisons, which was good enough for the Tigers to grab him with their first round pick in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.

Since then, Wiesblatt has elevated to become one of the most promising forward prospects in the Tigers system alongside previous first round pick Cole Sillinger.

The Calgary native took part previously in Tigers summer orientation camp, however this weekend was his first taste of action facing off against current members of the Tigers organization.

“It’s pretty sweet,” said Wiesblatt. “All the older guys are helping me out, filling me in what to do. I’m kind of just learning things, picking things [up] from their game style, just learning how they play.”

Like Sillinger last year, Wiesblatt will be headed to the midget ranks in 2019-20 but will be eligible for a handful of call-ups as an affiliate player throughout the season.

CHAT Sports spoke with the first rounder on Sunday about his experience at camp and getting ready to wear the Tigers jersey for the first time in pre-season action.
