Watson golden at Pan Am Games

LIMA, PERU — After initially being disqualified, Sage Watson is coming home from Lima, Peru with a gold medal at the Pan Am Games.

Initial results released following the race Thursday evening showed Watson, who finished with a season-best time of 55.16 seconds, was disqualified following the race for a lane infraction.

However, at 7:01 p.m., new results were released, showing Watson as the gold medal winner. It’s her first ever individual gold medal in her senior athletics career.

Anna Cockrell from the United States won the silver medal with a time of 55.50 seconds, followed by Jamaica’s Rushek Clayton (55.53 seconds).

Watson is still scheduled to compete in the women’s 4×400 metre relay on Saturday.
