A 22-year-old driver has been handed a 90-day licence suspension and a 30-day vehicle seizure after police say alcohol was involved in a rollover collision in Medicine Hat.

Medicine Hat Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision in the Seventh Street Southwest area at about 7:40 p.m. Monday.

Police said their investigation determined the driver, the vehicle’s sole occupant, lost control, struck a parked vehicle and rolled.

Officers determined the driver had consumed alcohol and administered an approved screening device.

The driver provided a breath sample that produced a “Fail” result, according to police.

The 22-year-old was issued an Immediate Roadside Sanction for failing the alcohol screening test.

The sanctions also include a $1,200 fine.

No injuries were reported in the collision.

Police are reminding motorists that impaired driving can put other road users at risk and are encouraging anyone who plans to drink to arrange a safe ride home.

Anyone who suspects an impaired driver is asked to call 911.
