MONTREAL — Montreal Canadiens forward Ivan Demidov will be sidelined for two to four weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced Tuesday.

Demidov missed Monday’s practice for what the team initially called a therapy day.

The 20-year-old has a goal and an assist in two games this season.

Demidov led all NHL rookies with 62 points last season, scoring 19 goals and adding 43 assists in 82 games, and was a finalist for the Calder Trophy.

Montreal selected Demidov fifth overall in the 2024 NHL draft.

The Canadiens host the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.
