Province extends deadline to apply for $100 Alberta Energy Rebate

Oct 1, 2026 | 9:52 AM

The Government of Alberta announced they’ve extended the deadline to apply for the $100 Alberta Energy Rebate.

As a result, citizens have an extra month to apply, with the deadline for the one-time payment set for Oct. 31.

“More than 1.45 million Albertans have already applied for and received the rebate. By extending the deadline, we are giving more families the time they need to apply and receive real relief,” said Jason Nixon, President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance.

The province first introduced the rebate on July 1, which the government says puts increased revenues from high oil prices back in Albertans’ pockets.

Those who are eligible to apply can earn $200 for two-adult households, but families may also benefit from additional $100 rebates for each eligible family member aged 18 or older living in the same home.

The province also made improvements to the application process, including a third payment verification option in the online portal. In addition to online banking and document verification, applicants can apply for their Alberta Energy Rebate using their 2025 Notice of Assessment – making it faster and easier for more Albertans to complete their applications and receive their rebate.
