Three separate incidents keep Brooks RCMP busy Saturday

In a separate incident Saturday morning, police were called to an apartment building at about 10:31 a.m. after receiving a report that someone had taken up residence in a laundry room.

Police said the individual had left before officers arrived, but belongings left behind helped identify the person as Nyaibol Deng.

Mounties later arrested Deng on outstanding warrants from Brooks and Medicine Hat.

Police said officers found several credit cards, identification cards and other documents in Deng’s possession that did not belong to her.

She was charged with failure to comply with a release order and possession of property obtained by crime.

Deng was held for a judicial hearing and later released with conditions.

She is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 23.

Also Saturday, Brooks RCMP responded to a collision involving a truck and two motorcycles at the intersection of Range Road 141 and Township Road 191.

Police said the truck was travelling north on Range Road 141 and entered the intersection from a yield sign.

The driver told police he did not see the approaching motorcycles.

One motorcyclist was found lying in the ditch, while the second was walking around the scene. Both riders were taken to hospital.

One suffered minor injuries, while the other sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said alcohol impairment was not a factor.

Mounties issued a violation ticket to the truck driver for failing to obey a traffic control device.
