Medicine Hat invited to gather for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Medicine Hat College, the Miywasin Friendship Centre and the Firekeepers Women’s Society are inviting the community to gather Sept. 30 for an evening marking the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. outside the front entrance of Medicine Hat College at 299 College Dr. S.E.

The gathering will bring together Indigenous Elders, community leaders, representatives from Treaty 4, Treaty 7 and the Métis Nation, elected officials, educational partners, students and community members.

The evening will include a one-kilometre walk for reconciliation, story sharing led by Indigenous Elders, a smudge, blanket ceremony, honour song and round dance.
