Medicine Hat College Rattlers earn two podium finishes at St. Mary’s Open.

Rookie Alejandro Ayala led the Rattlers, finishing sixth. Ethan Mellish placed 13th, followed by Will Miller in 20th, Spencer Wilson in 27th, Keegan Kolody in 31st and Logan Mellish in 37th.

The Rattlers are back in action on Oct. 2 at the Red Deer Polytechnic Open in Red Deer.

An ACAC Golf regional event started Sunday at the Desert Blume Golf Course and continues on Monday.

NAIT’s Russel Quinn shot an even-par 72 on Sunday to sit in the top spot. The Rattlers’ Wyatt Bishop sits two strokes back after carding a 74. There are six other male golfers representing MHC. Cash Welk sits sixth after a 3-over par, Hayden King is tied for ninth at 6-over par, Everett Liefso is tied for 19th at 10-over par, Jaxon Magnus is 25th at 13-over par, and RJ Reimer is tied for 27th at 15-over par.

On the women’s side, the Rattlers’ Rebecca Armstrong shares the lead with SAIT’s Ella Friesen after both shot 10-over par. Kiara Ressor is three strokes back in third at 13-over par, Ava Bratvold is sixth at 18-over par, Stacey McLeod is tied for 10th at 29-over par, Zoe Hodgson is tied for 12th at 33-over par, and Ashley Morrison is in 16th at 37-over par.

In the team events, the Rattlers’ men were second at 21-over par, nine strokes behind SAIT. The Rattlers’ women are in first at 23-over par, a seven-stroke lead on SAIT.

Golfers are teeing off between 9:45 a.m. and 12:01 p.m. on Monday for the final round. The event includes 34 men and 17 women competing.

The Rattlers soccer teams hosted games over the weekend. The men won 6-0 over Olds College at home on Saturday, and the women won 5-2.

On Sunday, the Rattlers men and women both played to a one-all tie with Red Deer Polytechnic.

The Rattlers basketball teams hosted Winnipeg’s Canadian Mennonite University for exhibition games on Friday and Saturday. Results from both the men’s and women’s games haven’t been posted.

Exhibition volleyball had the Rattlers travel to Cranbrook for games against the College of the Rockies.

The Rattlers men won three of five sets on Friday and only one of four on Saturday.

The Rattlers women won one of four sets on Friday, a result they duplicated on Saturday.
