Jays’ Soriano was untouchable until tenacious Tigers figured him out, rally to win
TORONTO — Jose Soriano was flirting with history for seven innings, but then he hit a wall.
Soriano pitched a perfect game for 5 1/3 innings and had a no-hitter going for another inning before giving up four runs and getting the hook as his Toronto Blue Jays eventually fell to the Detroit Tigers 6-5 on Monday.
Soriano said that his no-hit bid was undone because the Tigers figured him out as the game wore on.
“I think everything was working well, I was pounding the zone, that’s a big part of this in the first couple of innings,” said Soriano.
