Medicine Hat’s Monarch Theatre expands live performance offerings following summer renovations
The Monarch Theatre has reopened following summer renovations aimed at making the historic Medicine Hat venue better suited for live performances, with upgrades and additions to multiple areas of the more than 100-year-old building.
The theatre held its grand reopening Aug. 22, after a summer closure that allowed crews to complete several upgrades.
General manager Janessa Anderson said the work included extending the stage, adding electrical outlets and lighting, and creating an accessible platform for wheelchairs and strollers.
“We’ve really just shone a light on how great it can be for people to perform here,” Anderson said.
