Cypress County takes next steps for proposed recreational facility in Dunmore

“Moving to the RFP stage will give us the information we need to better understand what can be delivered within the $65 million budget while ensuring we continue to make responsible financial decisions on behalf of our residents.”

The decision follows preliminary planning and community engagement, including a recent recreation facility survey that showed overall support for expanded recreation opportunities.

The proposed Dunmore Junction location would serve residents, families, community organizations and regional user groups.

The RFP process will allow council to assess design options, construction costs and the facility’s potential scope before making further decisions. Moving forward with the procurement process does not constitute final approval of the facility’s design or full scope.

The County will also pursue provincial and federal grants, partnerships and sponsorships to help reduce the municipal contribution, with the goal of avoiding an increase to residential property taxes.
