Medicine Hat Police Service launches three-day pilot program for remotely operated police drones
The Medicine Hat Police Service is testing remotely operated drone technology as a potential tool for responding to emergency and operational calls.
MHPS announced Thursday that it has partnered with drone technology provider Skydio for a three-day pilot program running through Aug. 14.
During the pilot, a drone will be deployed from police headquarters to support calls for service.
MHPS says it will collect deployment data, response footage, performance metrics and lessons learned as it evaluates whether the technology could be used more broadly.
