Brooks Bandits exhibition schedule set; roster turnover for championship team

Brooks has won back-to-back BCHL titles in their first two full seasons in the league.

The team will have significant roster turnover heading into the 2026-27 season. Several players have aged out of the program or have moved on to major junior, NCAA or professional opportunities since last season.

Points leader forward Jack Good will move on to the Ontario Hockey League with the Brantford Bulldogs, and defenceman Dane Sorensen will play for the Western Hockey League‘s Kelowna Rockets.

Heading to play NCAA Division I are forwards Liam Fitzpatrick, Isaac Johnson, Jack Rosensteel, defencemen Dante Siciliano and Francois Devilliers. Tanner Winegard heads to a program that will play a year as an independent before joining NCAA Division I.

Moving on to U Sports are aged-out forward Harry Ahlberg and goaltender Zach Zahara. Forward Frantisek Albrecht has also aged out.

Defenceman Harijs Cjunskis will play pro hockey in Switzerland, and forward Leon Bussman will play pro hockey in Germany.

The Brooks Bandits made a trade last week with the Chilliwack Chiefs. The Chiefs announced they have acquired the BCHL rights to goaltender Noah Tegelaar for forward Koby Francis and future considerations.

The 2007-born Francis split the 2025-26 season between the Chiefs and the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League.

During his time with the Chiefs, he had 23 points with six goals and 17 assists in 23 regular-season games, and eight points with four goals and four assists in nine playoff games.

He had started the season off with the Sagueneens, putting up six points with two goals and four assists in 28 games.

From Gatineau, Que., the six-foot-two winger has represented Jamaica internationally.

Tegellar, a 2006-born netminder from Georgetown, Ont., played the 2025-26 season in the Ontario Hockey League, appearing in eight games with the Erie Otters and 11 with the Soo Greyhounds.

He was 7-3-1 with a 2.89 goals-against average and an .888 save percentage with the Greyhounds.

With the Otters, the six-foot-five netminder’s numbers weren’t as strong.

He was 1-4-2 with a 4.73 goals-against average and an .842 save percentage.

The Bandits have concluded their search to replace former assistant coach Cole McCaig, but have yet to name his replacement.

McCaig was also the director of player development with the Bandits last season.

He accepted the role of head coach and general manager with the Flin Flon Bombers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League for the 2026-27 season earlier this month.

He previously served as an assistant coach and assistant general manager with the Bombers for several seasons before joining the Bandits last season.

The annual general meeting for the Bandits will be held on Aug. 31 at 6 p.m. in the Centennial Regional Arena lobby.
