Corbin Mayer returns home and takes Solar Plunge after carrying Special Olympics torch across Alberta
Corbin Mayer has returned home to Medicine Hat after carrying the Torch for the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games across Alberta, capping off his journey with a Solar Plunge ahead of Tuesday night’s Special Olympics Opening Ceremony.
Mayer, a Medicine Hat resident, spent the past several days travelling across the province as part of the torch run leading up to the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games.
After making his way back to his hometown, Mayer said it was special to carry the torch on home turf.
“Honestly, it was good to just run on home turf. Like, I’m from Medicine Hat, and it felt good to be coming home. It’s amazing,” Mayer said.
