Here is What’s On in Medicine Hat this weekend: July 24-26

The temperatures in Medicine Hat will remain warm this weekend as Stampede Week continues during an extended heat wave. There are also a few other things to do, although the Stampede dominates the entertainment this weekend.

Friday will be sunny before a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 percent chance of showers in the morning and thunderstorm risk. Widespread smoke will impact the air quality as it bounces between moderate and high risk. Wind is set to gust up to 50 km/h. The expected daytime high is 33 C. The UV index is eight or very high.

In the evening, it’s expected to be partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers, before becoming clear late in the evening and overnight. There is the risk of a thunderstorm this evening. Widespread smoke continues. Wind is set to gust up to 50 km/h. The projected evening low is 16 C.

On Saturday, local smoke continues. Wind gusts up to 40 km/h by the afternoon. The UV index will be at eight or very high. A daytime high of 33 C and evening low of 17 C, with a clear sky.

On Sunday, it’s expected to be sunny and then clear in the evening. With a daytime high of 33 C and an evening low of 15 C.

🥞 Free Pancake Breakfasts

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The final pancake breakfasts of Stampede Week are on Friday and Saturday.

Friday is located at the Co-op Mall on 13th Avenue from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Then on Saturday at the A & W on Strachan Road, hosted by the Lions from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

🤠🐂 Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede 🎸🎡

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

Medicine Hat’s Annual Exhibition and Stampede continues on Friday and Saturday before wrapping up for another year.

On Friday, the Servus Credit Union Kiddies Day takes place when the gates open at noon. It will be free admission for those 12 and under until 3 p.m.; during that same time frame, admission will be $4 for those 13 and older. The regular gate admission cost is in place after that, which is $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under.

The West Coast Amusement midway runs from noon until the clock strikes midnight, as it will each night through Saturday.

Daily ride passes are available for $55.

A Stampede Royalty Autograph Session takes place at noon.

Then at 1 p.m. it’s the Cowboy Clash at the Grandstand.

Local ranchers will go head-to-head in exciting events like cattle sorting, trailer loading, roping, branding, and more.

The second of the three days of the Summer Pro Rodeo is at the Grandstand on Friday at 8 p.m. Events include Saddle Bronc, Bareback, Bull Riding, Tie-Down Roping, Steer Wrestling, Barrel Racing, Team Roping, and Breakaway Roping.

The crowning of the Medicine Hat Stampede Rodeo Royalty Competition will also take place during Friday’s rodeo.

The final day of the rodeo then starts on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Rodeo tickets are available online or at the grounds.

Friday and Saturday night will also have fireworks at about 10:45 p.m.

The night show on Saturday features a Johnny Reid concert at the Grandstand with Morgan Klaiber as the opening act starting at 8 p.m.

🚎 Sunshine Trolley: Guided City Tour

FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The Sunshine Trolley: Guided City Tour, fuelled by South Country Co-op, is running multiple times this weekend in Medicine Hat.

The tours offer an in-depth guided experience led by local Medicine Hat residents, highlighting the history of neighbourhoods, streets, and some of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.

Stops along the route will give passengers the chance to hop off and briefly explore key areas before continuing the tour.

Pick-up is at the Visitor Information Centre at 330 Gehring Rd. SW

Children 12 and under ride free thanks to sponsorship from the Medicine Hat Mavericks.

Tickets are required and available online at the Tourism Medicine Hat website.

💪 Canadian Wrestling’s Elite Cruel Summer Tour

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

Canadian Wrestling’s Elite Cruel Summer Tour is in Medicine Hat on Friday night with a card headlined by former WWE and NXT star Trevor Lee.

The event takes place at the Robertson Memorial Legion Branch 17, with a meet-and-greet beginning at 6 p.m., doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the first bell scheduled for 7 p.m.

The main event will see CWE champion CAM!!ikaze defend the promotion’s championship against Trevor Lee in a special attraction title match.

The card also features the CWE Central Canadian Championship, with champion Cody Mac defending against Derek Diggler, and the CWE Tag Team Championship as Danny Duggan and Ronnie Attitude take on AJ Sanchez and The Canadian Goose.

Other matches include Becky Beech facing Germany’s Lory in women’s competition.

Wild 94.5’s Jesse Christianson makes his first appearance against former CWE champion Chad Daniels.

The wrestling promotion shifts to Brooks on Saturday night for a show at the Cenovus Flexhall.

🚶 Historic First Street Walking Tours

SATURDAY

The Historic Railroad Walking Tour takes place on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Residents and visitors can explore the neighbourhood that grew alongside the arrival of the Canadian Pacific Railway during a guided walking tour highlighting Medicine Hat’s historic North Railway Street.

The approximately one-hour tour begins at Towne Square. It features historic landmarks, architectural details, ghost signs and stories about the diverse communities that helped shape the city as the railway expanded.

The tour concludes at Hometown Culinary, formerly the OK Coffee Shop, where participants can purchase an iced coffee for the original 1947 price of 25 cents.

Organizers recommend bringing a quarter for the coffee, dressing for the weather and booking in advance, as space is limited.

The tour may be rescheduled in the event of poor weather or low registration.

⚾️ Medicine Hat Mavericks

SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Mavericks host the Weyburn Beavers at Athletic Park on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday’s game is at 6:45 p.m., and Sunday’s is at 2:05 p.m.

After these two contests, the Mavs have one home game remaining on Aug. 1, before some potential playoff dates.
