Medicine Hat College Rattlers women with team victory at The Pumpkin Run in Lethbridge

The women’s cross country running team had a strong showing at The Pumpkin Run in Lethbridge during the Alberta College Athletic Conference’s second run of the season taking top spot.

The Rattlers women’s team had four of it’s runners place in the top 10, led by rookie Pheonix Asprey who placed third in the six kilometre race.

Maddie Scrimger wasn’t far behind placing fifth, Reyna Woodruff took home seventh and Ellie Barlow placed 10th.

Other Rattlers runners included Riley Knapp at 17th, Addy Weir at 19th, Ciana Catonio at 26th, Presley Brennan at 29th, Ava Dyck at 30th, and Elise Stark who placed 33rd.

The Rattlers men had their first full team of the season for the cross country event.

Placing in fourth spot out of eight colleges the mens team was led by rookie Logan Pancoast who placed fifth in the eight kilometre run.

Spencer Wilson placed 17th, Keegan Kolody making his ACAC debut placed 22nd, with Griffin Goodfellow crossing the finish line in 31st.

The Rattlers cross country team will be back in action in Camrose on Oct. 2.

The Rattlers soccer teams where both victorious at home on Saturday over Ambrose University.

A 5-1 win for the men was lead offensively by Tata Mugisha with the hat trick and Aleksa Bijelic who scored a pair.

The win keeps the men undefeated on the season at 4-0.

The womens team won 4-1, with Nicoly Souza scoring a hat trick and Alexis Ratke with a single marker.

The win moves the women to a 3-2 record on the season.

Both soccer teams are back in action on the road Saturday in Calgary against SAIT.

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers womens ice hockey team took on the South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 female team on Saturday in an exhibition contest.

SAHA got the upper hand with a 4-0 win over the Rattlers.

The Rattlers women have a final exhibition contest on the road against Olds College on Saturday.

They are 2-2 so far over four pre-season contests.

Saturday, Oct. 11 the NAIT Ooks will be in the city for the Rattlers home opener.

The Rattlers volleyball teams were on the road to Cranbrook over the weekend taking on the College of the Rockies Avalanche.

Results from Friday and Saturday had the men dropping all twelve sets to the Avalanche.

The womens team won their sets 3-1 on Friday and the first group of games Saturday, but fell in close games 3-0 on Saturday.

The volleyball teams start their regular season on Friday against Ambrose University in Calgary, before hosting them on Saturday.

The Rattlers golf team is competing at the ACAC Golf Championship at the Alberta Springs Golf Resort in Red Deer.

Round one got underway on Sunday, the three day event wraps up with round three on Tuesday.

The Rattlers mens team sat in fourth place after round one shooting 24-over par.

The Rattlers women were sitting in second after round one with 34-over par.

Individually on the mens side after round one Rylan Hodgson was the top Rattlers golfer in ninth spot shooting a 2-over par 74.

Wyatt Bishop and Isaac Stehr both carded a 5-over par 77 to sit in 16th.

Rylan Montgomery was in 21st spot with an 8-over par 80.

Adam Sim shot a 10-over par 82 to sit at 28th.

Keelan Burzminski and Makhi Carriere both shot a 12-over par 84 to sit in 32nd.

Hayden King had a 19-over par hitting 91 strokes to sit in 38th spot.

Individually on the womens side after round one Ava Bratvold was the top golfer for the Rattlers sitting in fourth spot with a 16-over par 88.

Kiara Reesor sat in seventh spot with an 18-over par 90.

Zoe Hodgson shot a 21-over par 93 to sit in 10th.

Hayes Clark tied for the 18th spot shooting a 55-over par 127.

Daily results can be tracked online through the ACAC.

Following the tournament ACAC golfers will look towards the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association championship hosted by the Rattlers at Desert Blume Golf Course Oct. 14-17.

The Rattlers mens basketball team kicks off their exhibition season hosting Briercrest College on Friday and Saturday.

The womens team are set to start the exhibition on the road against Olds College on Friday, Oct. 3.
