Oct 22, 2022 | 9:40 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Tabbies took on the undefeated Red Deer Rebels Friday night at Co-Op place.

It was a strong start to the first period for The Hat as they stormed out to take a two goal lead early. Both goals came from forward Caden Lindstrom who now has 4 goals on the season.

Lindstrom recently secured his first WHL goal when The Tigers took on the Everett Silvertips back on Oct. 7.

The Rebels were able to answer back before the end of the period on the powerplay. That goal coming off the stick of captain Jayden Grubbe who sits in the number fourteen spot in league scoring.

Headed into the second period The Tabbies still had the lead 2-1, but Ben King would knot the game up for Red Deer 4:46 into the period. That bringing his point total on the season into double digits at 10.

That would stand as the only goal of the second period leaving the game at 2-2 headed into an important third period where Medicine Hat would get back in the win column or The Rebels would remain perfect on the season.

The Tigers came out strong in the third, pushing the pace of play early in the period. The hot start would be extinguished 4:45 into the frame when a shot from Rebels Defenceman Matteo Fabrizi would go off the helmet of goaltender Beckett Langkow, and trickle across the line.

That would be the game winner, and Talon Brigley would add the insurance goal minutes later. The Tigers made a push in the final minutes of the period, but couldn’t find a way to get one passed goaltender Kyle Kelsey for a final score of 4-2.

The win improved the perfect record for Red Deer to 9-0-0, and The Tabbies now sit tenth in the East with a record of 3-5-1.

Third star of the game went to Tigers forward Hunter St. Martin with two assists.

Second star was given to The Rebels Ben King with one goal, and one assist.

The First star of the night was given to the man with the early two goals for The Hat, Caden Lindstrom.
