Alberta COVID hospitalizations down, confirmed cases go the other way

COVID hospitalizations are down in Alberta but confirmed cases are up in the province and in our city compared to the previous reporting period.

As of Monday, there were 1,164 cases confirmed province-wide, up from 943 in the previous week and 15 COVID deaths. There are 568 COVID inpatients in Alberta hospitals, down from 589. Twenty-one of those are in ICU, up from 13.

In Medicine Hat, there have been 22 new cases identified in the past seven days, up from 17 in the previous period. There were no COVID deaths recorded in Medicine Hat in the past week and the total remains at 101.

Alberta has confirmed a total of 589,726 over the course of the pandemic and 4,636 deaths.

Among all Medicine Hat residents, 78.8 per cent have received one dose of vaccine, 75.4 per cent have received two doses and 36.6 per cent have received three doses.

Among Alberta’s total population, 81.5 per cent have received at least one dose of vaccine and 77.3 per cent have received two doses 38.3 per cent have received three doses.
