ATCO mum on employee discipline for inflated contract
Apr 19, 2022 | 9:28 AM
ATCO executives have acknowledged the company made mistakes and have promised reform, but the company isn’t saying what discipline employees face in the wake of the second-largest penalty in history from the province’s utilities commission.
ATCO was assessed $31-million in administrative penalties for trying to make consumers pay for a contract with a First Nation in 2018 that had been knowingly inflated to ensure lucrative future deals with the Simpcw band.
ATCO spokesman Kurt Kadatz says employee discipline is private, but says the regulatory missteps do not reflect ATCO’s core values or its commitment to excellence.
