Sep 10, 2021 | 11:17 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Elections Canada is still looking for workers in the Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner riding.

Each riding in the country hires about 750 workers each election. Leanne Nyirfa, Elections Canada spokesperson, says the Medicine Hat riding needs to hire about 50 more people to work on election day, Sept. 20.

She says there are various poll worker positions to be filled, including information officers, central poll supervisors and registration officers.

“These involve fairly specific tasks such as registering voters when they come in to vote, greeting people at the door, making sure the polling stations open and close on time, helping with accessibility of the polling place if people require that, setting up the polls with all the supplies they’re going to need,” Nyirfa says. “There are a number of different tasks that these positions would take on according to the job they’re doing.”
