MEDICINE HAT, AB — Today is the first day for advance polling for the federal election.

Polls are open until 9 p.m. local time across the country, with a change from provincial elections.

Federal electors may vote at their assigned polling place only.

People can find where they’re supposed to vote by looking on the back of their voter information card, or on the Elections Canada website.

Health and safety measures are in place for all polling places, including masking, physical distancing and hand sanitizing stations.

Advance polls will also be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

There are other early voting options as well, including voting at any Elections Canada office, or by mail using a special ballot process.

But the deadline to apply to vote by mail is 6 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Sept. 14.
