COVID-19 update: Over 66,000 Albertans fully immunized

EDMONTON, AB- There are 328 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed across the province Sunday bringing the total number of active cases to 4,758.

There are nine new cases of the COVID-19 variants, A total of 271 variant cases exist province-wide. The South Zone has no cases of the variant, according to Alberta Health.

A total of 321 people are in hospital. 53 of which are in ICU.

On Sunday, the province also confirmed nine new deaths.

In Medicine Hat, there are 23 active cases of COVID-19. A total of 515 people have recovered and 14 deaths in the city are attributed to the pandemic.

Cypress County has two active cases. A total of 143 people have recovered.

The County of Newell and the City of Brooks have zero active cases.

The Municipal District of Taber has four active cases. A total of 326 people have recovered and six deaths are attributed to the pandemic.

Vaccine distribution is underway. The province said 169,441 doses of the vaccine have been administered with 66,357 Albertans fully immunized.

On Twitter over the weekend, the province’s chief medical officer of health encouraged Albertans to enjoy the outdoors but to adhere to public health guidelines.
