Hat couple wins $1M in Western Max draw

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A Medicine Hat couple is $1 million richer after winning a Western Max draw last month.

John and Annalee Wagner won one of 14 additional draws on the Jan. 19 drawing.

“We were shocked!” said Annalee to WCLC. “It felt so surreal.”

“It’s definitely surreal,” agreed John. “You hear about this happening to other people, but to have it happen to you – it’s a big shock.”

When it’s safe, they’ll be hitting the road or flying away.

“We’ve never been on a holiday,” said John. “As soon as it’s safe and all of the travel bans have been lifted, we’re going to take a vacation.”

“But the best part about winning knowing we can relax a little bit,” he added. “There’s less stress about the unknown – and that feels great!”

Annalee purchased the ticket at the Safeway gas bar on Dunmore Road. The winning numbers were 13, 27, 31, 34, 35, 37 and 43.
