Will expire March 4
City to allow mask bylaw to expire, defer to provincial mandate

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat’s Mandatory Face Coverings Bylaw will be allowed to expire on March 4.
The city announced the decision in a news release Wednesday, saying it will instead defer to the provincial mask mandate announced by Alberta Health on Dec. 8.
Medicine Hat City Council passed its bylaw on Dec. 2. It came into force with a 90-day repeal date, with an option for council to extend.
The city says it supports and relies on health experts wherever possible and allowing the provincial mask mandate to prevail aligns with this approach.
