Coaldale fire causes nearly $100k in damages

COALDALE, AB– Coaldale and District Emergency Services received the call for a structure fire at 1206 19 ave at 6:20 pm on February 13, 2021.

Fire officials reported heavy fire showing from the center unit of a 3 unit single-story residential building.

Two people escaped safely before the fire department’s arrival and reported no injuries.

The fire was under control in under 30 minutes while containing the bulk of the fire damage to the centre unit.

n total, 21 firefighters were on the scene battling the blaze, including five firefighters from Picture Butte who responded as mutual aid.

The fire investigation is complete, and the fire’s cause was determined to be accidental due to the storage of combustible materials on top of an oven.

Officials estimate the damages are around $100,000. No additional details will be provided.
