Medicine Hat Ringette Association ends season early

Feb 11, 2021 | 10:42 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The season has ended for the Medicine Hat Ringette Association.

“The decision was a hard one to make,” says Jay Pinnell president of MHRA, in a release. “We all wanted to get back to the sport we love but we just couldn’t make it happen under all the limitations.”

Ringette has not been allowed since the provincial government put restrictions on team sports in early December. Even with the announcement on Feb. 6 that team sports would be permitted under slew of restrictions, the local association made the decision Thursday to end the season early.

Fifty per cent of season fees will be refunded. The refunds should be processed by the end of March.

The MHRA is looking at ways to offer skill development camps within the current restrictions for players who want to be on the ice.

“A big part of ringette is the social aspect,” says Pinnell. “We want to be able to offer our players a quality experience with games, skills and fun with their friends. We are looking forward to next season and seeing all our athletes enjoying themselves on the ice again.”
