Kenney OK with Barnes, Pitt voicing constituents’ concerns on restrictions

Feb 11, 2021 | 10:19 AM

EDMONTON – Alberta Premier Jason Kenney is refusing to call out two of his caucus members who are openly challenging his COVID-19 economic restrictions.

Kenney says his United Conservative party believes in free speech and in caucus members voicing the concerns of their constituents.

Legislature members Drew Barnes and Angela Pitt have signed on to a national group called End the Lockdowns.

It’s part of Liberty Coalition Canada, which says COVID-19 restrictions are unnecessary and unfair and making the pandemic worse.

Alberta’s Opposition NDP says Kenney needs to toss Barnes and Pitt out his caucus.

The NDP says keeping them sends a dangerous mixed message on public health.
