Cold weather hampers firefighters

Single family home damaged in Thursday night fire

MEDICINE HAT — A home that was under renovation in the Connaught sub-division caught fire last night and the structure suffered significant damage.

Medicine Hat firefighters responded to the alarm around 9:24 last evening.

No one was home at the time of the fire so there were no injuries.

However the cold temperatures created some problems with ice as firefighters fought the flames and worked to evacuate people in the neighborhood.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The home is on Goldenrod court in southeast Medicine Hat.
