COVID-19 update: Province records 461 new cases, eight new deaths

EDMONTON, AB- The province has confirmed 461 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of active cases to 7,505.

The province also recorded eight new deaths.

Hospitalizations stand at 561, with 101 of those in the ICU.

Over the past 24 hours 8,946 tests were completed, according to the province.

The provincial positivity rate stands at 5.3 per cent.

In Medicine Hat, there are 17 active cases, 497 recoveries, and 13 recorded deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Cypress County currently has two active cases and 143 recoveries.

In Newell County, there are five active cases, 150 recoveries and two deaths.

The city of Brooks has two active cases, 1,345 recoveries, and 14 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Lethbridge County has 29 active cases, 477 recoveries, and seven deaths.

The city of Lethbridge has 141 active cases, 1572 recoveries, and 12 deaths.

On Twitter Sunday afternoon, the province’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw advised Albertans to stay home if sick.
