MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Monday early birds will get the prime spots this summer at the Gas City Campground.

The city announced today online reservations for the 2021 camping season will open on Feb. 1 at 7 a.m.

“We are looking forward to opening up the campground for the season the weekend of April 30,” said Natalie Weir, superintendent of parks operations. “In order to keep campers and our staff safe, we will be following a measured approach in line with all current guidelines and restrictions put in place by the Government of Alberta.”

Full service, power and water, as well as power-only sites will be available beginning this spring. An updated campground map is available.

The campground usually closes after the September long weekend, but the city plans to keep it open for about a month longer this year.

Weir says that as long as the weather co-operates the campground will stay open until Oct. 3.

A portion of the campground will be unavailable this year for campsite enhancement work scheduled to start in the spring.

In October, council approved the capital project submitted to the Municipal Stimulus Program provided by the Government of Alberta.

“We’re excited for these upgrades and to be able to offer additional full-service sites in the next camping season,” says Weir.
