Alberta farmers getting an insurance break

The Alberta government says farmers in the province will enjoy a 20-per-cent break in crop insurance premiums this year.
The government says the savings will amount to about $55 million in total.
It says the move will put money back into the pockets of farmers, support job creators and boost the rural economy at a time when it’s needed most.
Agriculture Minister Devin Dreeshen says the reduction in crop insurance premiums will help counter the looming increase in the federal carbon tax and the effects of the Clean Fuel Standard.
