Valentines for Veterans accepting hand-made cards for those who served

Jan 26, 2021 | 3:45 PM

Last year, 14,000 Valentines were sent to more than 4,100 veterans across the country.

That was all thanks to Canadians who created the cards with the Valentines for Vets initiative.

The program has been going on for the past 25 years.

Children across Canada have been creating Valentines for Vets as a way to thank our veterans for the sacrifices they have made.

MP Glen Motz for Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner says the valentines are delivered to veterans in long-term care facilities across the country.

“You can never have enough opportunities to thank veterans for what they have done for us. I think it’s just great, it gets different populations and age demographics involved in showing that appreciation.”

You can mail your hand-made valentines by February 1.

Motz says kids can get involved in the interactive project at school or at home.

“It gives children an opportunity to learn about the sacrifices and accomplishments of our military veterans and what it’s taken to secure the freedoms that we enjoy in our country.”
