Local school divisions offer online registration for the second year

The local school divisions expect registrations to be faster this year, being families already have their log-in information for the online portals.

MHPSD Superintendent Mark Davidson says about 70 percent of students registered online last year.

“We started this process before we knew that we would be moving so much of our school programming to be either dependant on or very connected to online tools. So, I think our capacity as a system to support it and families expecting that’s how it’s going to work is increasing uptake,” Davidson said.

Over at MHCBE, Superintendent Dwayne Zarichny says last year’s online registrations went off without a hitch for the most part.

“We accept children in all faiths, religious backgrounds, or if they don’t have any religious affiliation. All kids are welcome we are a public school,” Zarichny said.

He anticipates registration to be busy the first few days, with up to 2,000 parents registering their child.

Zarichny says Notre Dame Academy is very popular with the sports academy there.

Meantime, there is also a kindergarten calculator on MHCBE’s website, to see if your child is old enough to enter Kindergarten.

Prairie Rose Public School Division will be opening up registrations at the beginning of February for new students.

They are currently reviewing options for returning students and those details will be shared with parents once they are finalized.
