REDCLIFF, AB – Redcliff RCMP are warning of treacherous conditions on both east and westbound sections of the Trans-Canada Highway from Irvine to the Saskatchewan border.

Semi-trucks have jackknifed in both directions causing traffic delays, though the road remains open with RCMP strongly advising against non-essential travel.

“The conditions are fairly icy out there. We have some semis that are jackknifed in the area and right now the highway is just blocked as a result of that,” said Redcliff detachment Staff Sgt. Sean Maxwell. “We have tow vehicles that will be attending out there in order to try to move vehicles, make it so that the highway maintenance vehicles can get in there.”

Maxwell added to expect the situation to continue for several hours.
