Nov 9, 2020 | 1:53 PM

A positive case of COVID-19 has been connected to Prairie Mennonite Alternative School in Medicine Hat.

Prairie Rose School Division says it received confirmation of the case on Sunday.

“Due to the circumstances regarding this case, all students of Prairie Mennonite School are considered a close contact to the positive person. Therefore, a decision has been made to transition all classes at Prairie Mennonite Alternative School to learning from home for the complete isolation period. This means there will be no in-person school until November 20, 2020. A total of 100 students and 11 staff have provided isolation notices,” reads a post on the division website.

Enhanced cleaning protocols of the school are underway, focusing on areas where “the individual was present along with our continuous attention to high touch areas and surfaces throughout the facility.”

The division reminds all families to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 using our Student Illness Guide and keep students who are sick away from school. Rest assured we will continue to work closely with AHS and the Medical Officer of Health in the South Zone to ensure that we follow their ongoing recommendations.
