MEDICINE HAT, AB — Bob Ridley is going into another hall of fame.

The Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame announced its latest inductees on Thursday, revealing the voice of the Tigers will be enshrined as part of the class of 2019.

Ridley, who celebrated his 50th year with CHAT in 2018, has called more than 3,900 games for the Medicine Hat Tigers since 1970. He was also the long-time bus driver for the team.

Ridley was previously inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.

He spoke about the induction on Twitter this afternoon.

The Hall of Fame also announced the 1987 and 1988 Medicine Hat Tigers teams will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The Tigers won the Memorial Cup both of those years, and they’re the only team from Alberta, and one of only eight teams in Canada, to win back-to-back Memorial Cups.

This year’s class also includes Theo Fleury, formerly of the Calgary Flames, Kevin Lowe, formerly of the Edmonton Oilers, women’s hockey pioneer Shirley Cameron and Duncan McDougall, who has helped develop hockey referees in Alberta for more than 40 years.

The induction ceremony takes place July 21 in Canmore.

Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the Tigers back-to-back Memorial Cup victories were in 1988 and 1989. We regret the error.
