Trump’s band of ‘my generals’ is disbanding
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump’s band of “my generals” is disbanding.
A political novice, Trump took office nearly two years ago gushing about the retired military leaders who had agreed to serve in his administration: retired four-star Marine Corps Gen. Jim Mattis as defence secretary, and John Kelly, another retired four-star Marine general, heading the Department of Homeland Security.
In the White House, Trump installed retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn as national security adviser.
“I see my generals, generals who are going to keep us so safe,” Trump said hours after he’d been sworn into office in January 2017. “They’re going to have a lot of problems, the other side.”
