Former Brooks Bandits forward Frantisek Albrecht has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at Hobart College in Geneva, New York.

The 21-year-old from Czechia will suit up for the Statemen for the 2026-27 season.

Albrecht played 38 regular-season games with the Bandits last season, scoring eight goals and adding 15 assists. He also recorded 10 points in 21 playoff games.

Bandits general manager Wayne Labrie spoke highly of Albrecht in a statement released by the team.

“Frantisek was a tremendous player for our team last season and someone our coaching staff could really rely on every night,” Labrie said.

“His competitiveness, work ethic, and commitment to winning were a key component to our team’s success last season,” he added.

“Just as importantly, he was an outstanding teammate who represented the Bandits organization with total class on and off the ice.”

Albrecht said in a statement released by the Bandits that he really enjoyed his time in Brooks, both on and off the ice.

“Everyone there comes in with the same goal, and that’s to win. We had a lot of fun and made some great memories, but at the same time, everyone was willing to put in the hard work every day. But it’s not just about the team; it’s also about all the people around it,” Albrecht said.

“The community in Brooks is something really special, and I honestly don’t think you can find that anywhere else. The friendships I made and everything we experienced together are things I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

The Bandits begin training camp on Saturday, Sept. 5. They will have camp games Saturday through Monday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m. each night at the Centennial Regional Arena, with the public free to attend.

An exhibition contest in Brooks will be played on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. against the Spruce Grove Saints.

The British Columbia Hockey League regular season begins for the Bandits on Sept. 18 in Blackfalds when they take on the Bulldogs.
