Medicine Hat police set to ‘Cram-A-Cruiser’ in support of Root Cellar food donations

“We’re hoping to get lots of people popping into the store and helping fill our police cruiser full of food and other items that people need,” he said.

The Root Cellar provides food and wellness support to people and families in Medicine Hat, and Bohrn said the police service is happy to support the organization and help provide additional donations.

“People in our community are facing some hard times, and the Root Cellar Food & Wellness Hub is a key part of our community and is helping people in tough times,” Bohrn said.

The event will also feature a barbecue, with burgers, chips and pop available for $5, with all proceeds from the barbecue also going to the Root Cellar.

A police cruiser will be on site for children and residents to explore and take photos, while the service’s electric vehicle used by school resource officers will also be on display.

Bohrn said the event provides an opportunity for police to interact with residents in a positive setting.

“We love interacting with the public and seeing people when they’re happy to see us too because a lot of times when people call us they’re sometimes in their worst situation,” Bohrn said.

Bohrn said the Cram-A-Cruiser is another way for residents to support the Root Cellar while helping make a difference for people in the community.

“Medicine Hat is notorious for stepping up and helping out when needed,” Bohrn said.

“We’re hoping the same thing on Thursday at Superstore as well.”
