VIDEO: Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society celebrates completion of shelter expansion
The Phoenix Safe House emergency shelter in Medicine Hat has expanded its ability to support clients after receiving more than $7.6 million in federal funding through the Affordable Housing Fund.
The funding helped the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society complete an expansion that added five additional bedrooms to the facility, allowing Phoenix Safe House to safely and comfortably shelter up to 30 clients.
The project also included multiple upgrades to improve services for residents and staff, including a new childcare space for families staying at the shelter, additional office space, expanded counselling areas, and renovations to improve accessibility and energy efficiency.
