Here is what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat: March 20-22

The first day of spring is here with a variety of events taking place in and around Medicine Hat this weekend.

The weather is expected to fluctuate throughout the weekend.

Environment Canada’s forecast shows Friday as a cloudy sky becoming a mix of sun and cloud around noon, with wind gusts up to 60 km/h throughout the day and evening. The daytime high is 22 C, and the evening low is 2 C. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies are expected in the evening.

Saturday shows a mainly cloudy sky with a 30 per cent chance of flurries, then shifting to a 30 per cent chance of rain showers or flurries in the afternoon. The wind is only expected to reach 20 km/h. The high is only expected to reach 4 C, with an overnight low of -2 C and a cloudy sky.

On Sunday, the sky is expected to clear, with a cloudy period returning in the evening. The expected daytime high is 9 C, and the evening low is -5 C.

🐍 ACAC Futsal Championships at MHC

FRIDAY, SATURDAY and SUNDAY

Medicine Hat College (MHC) is hosting the 2026 ACAC Futsal Championship from Friday to Sunday at the College’s Snake Pit (Gymnasium).

Eight men’s teams and eight women’s teams are competing for the ACAC title over the three-day event.

Games begin each day at 8 a.m. with the last game starting at 4:45 p.m.

The MHC Rattlers women’s team plays on Friday at 9:15 a.m., followed by the men’s team at 11:45 a.m.

Their next games will depend on the results of their first matches.

Tickets are $15 per day, or $10 for MHC staff, MHC alumni, and seniors.

📕 Spring Book Sale at MHPL

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Friends of the Medicine Hat Public Library is hosting a Spring Book Sale on Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

🦘️ Medicine Hat Wildlife Festival

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Wildlife Festival returns for another year to the Cypress Centre at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Grounds.

Some of the animals showcased include a porcupine, a sloth, and even a kangaroo. A wide variety of other animals will also be on display.

The event runs Friday through Sunday.

Hours on Friday are 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for general admission, and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for adults only.

On Saturday, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. is quiet hour, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. is general admission.

Then on Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. is general admission.

Organizers say that if you have children who have difficulty with crowds or noise, they and their families are invited to a special quiet hour.

The Wildlife Festival is a production of the non-profit Cobb’s Exotic Animal Rescue and Education Foundation.

The group is based in Calgary and focuses on educational messages of exotic pet ownership, conservation, and respect for wildlife.

All proceeds from the event go directly to Cobb’s Exotic Rescue

🧒 Kids Night Out

FRIDAY

Kids Night Out is back at the Big Marble Go Centre on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

It’s an evening of fun and play for kids aged 5 to 8.

Activities include crafts, gymnasium games, Nerf Wars, and more!

Space is limited, and tickets are available online.

♣️ Game Night at the Kiwanis!

FRIDAY

The Kiwanis Centre hosts “Game Night at the Kiwanis!” every first and third Friday of the month.

Bring your board games, card games, or other tabletop games and enjoy the space to play.

If you just bring yourself, you can play one of the games kept in the centre or join in with someone else.

Entry is $5, with cans of pop and bags of chips available for $1.

Participants under 16 years of age are required to have a parent or guardian present.

All funds stay with the Gas City Kiwanis Centre to help keep things running and in good repair.

The event runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at 826 11th Street S.E. in Medicine Hat.

🎻 Rotary Music Festival Rose Bowl

FRIDAY

The Medicine Hat Rotary Music Festival hosts the 71st annual Rose Bowl Concert at the Medicine Hat College Eresman Theatre on Friday at 7 p.m.

One performer from each discipline over the two weeks of the Festival will compete with each other for the Rose Bowl Trophy and Rotary Scholarship.

The event is free to attend, with donations appreciated.

📽 Movies at Historic Monarch Theatre

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY

A movie is shown at the Historic Monarch Theatre each day this weekend.

Friday is a showing of the 2005 film Walk the Line. Starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, the powerful biographical drama follows the life of Johnny Cash, from his early days in Arkansas to his rise to fame, his struggles with addiction, and his unforgettable love story with June Carter.

The show begins at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m.

Saturday, the big screen features the 1999 comedy American Pie, where you can relive the comedy based on the story of Jim and his friends making a pact. It was also the debut of the well-known character Stifler, portrayed by Sean William Scott.

Rated 18A, those under 18 years of age need an adult to accompany them.

The show begins at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m.

The Sunday Family Matinee featuring Disney’s beloved classic, The Lion King. A well-known 1994 animated film following the story of a young lion prince named Simba.

The show begins at 2 p.m. with doors opening at 1 p.m.

Admission is $5, and the concession is two items for $5. Payment is only accepted in cash.

🐯 Medicine Hat Tigers

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Tigers wrap up the regular season this weekend.

First on the road Friday night in Red Deer against the Rebels at 7 p.m., and then on Saturday at Co-op Place at 7 p.m., they host the Rebels.

The radio broadcast on Wild 94.5, featuring Will Bryant, starts with the pre-game at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. He will be joined by Lance Doll on the broadcast Saturday, starting at 6:30 p.m.

🏍 Cypress County Motorcycle Company Swap Meet

SATURDAY

The first-ever Cypress County Moto Co Inc Swap Meet takes place Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 521D North Railway St. SE.

An event that looks to be the start of a new annual tradition for the local riding community.

Buy, sell, and trade motorcycles, parts, accessories, gear and more while connecting with fellow riders and local vendors.

SACA Kickboxing will also be on site, running a charity BBQ.

🍯 Cabane à Sucre

SATURDAY

The annual Cabane à Sucre at Crescent Heights High School takes place this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A traditional Canadian sugar shack experience with music and entertainment by Daniel Gervais & Roger Dallaire.

The meal includes maple ham, baked beans, coleslaw, potatoes and maple syrup treats.

There will also be maple syrup taffy on snow.

Organizers say that tickets will not be available for purchase at the door and can be purchased online before the event.

🐇 Easter Community Artisan Market

SATURDAY

Jenesis Junction Inc. is hosting the Easter Community Artisan Market from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The annual Easter Market will be full of a variety of vendors.

It’s located at 93 South Railway Avenue in Irvine.

🏒 Medicine Hat Cubs

SATURDAY and SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Cubs head into the weekend one win away from winning the team’s first Heritage Junior Hockey League title.

The team last won a Junior B championship in the IJHL 25 years ago in 2021.

They are on the road on Saturday in Red Deer, looking to wrap up a three-game series sweep in the best-of-five series against the Vipers.

They will have support in the Servus Arena with a full fan bus also heading up for the game.

If a fourth game in the series is needed, it will be played at the Kinplex One Arena on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Games are broadcast on the subscription-based service FloSports.

🎸 Live on the Cantina Stage: Three Minute Thunder

SATURDAY

Casa Amigos in Downtown Medicine Hat will host local band Three Minute Thunder on Saturday night.

The show gets underway at 8 p.m.

🌺 Prairie Forest Past and Present

SUNDAY

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program’s upcoming nature walk, Prairie Forests Past and Present, takes place this Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The free public program meets at the swim centre at Echo Dale Regional Park.

Registration is required by calling the Nature Centre at 403-529-6225.
