Medicine Hat Tigers fall 6-1 to Edmonton Oil Kings

Mar 7, 2026 | 10:46 PM

After striking for the game’s opening goal, the Medicine Hat Tigers would allow six unanswered to close out the game as their nine-game win streak was snapped in a 6-1 loss to the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Bryce Pickford extended his goal-scoring streak to eight games with his 43rd of the season 2:43 into the opening frame, but that is where the offense stalled for the Tigers, who were held to just a single tally for just the fourth time this season.

The Oil Kings would see goals from Landon Hanson, Aaron Obobaifo, Ethan McKenzie, and Carter Sotheran.

Hanson scored what would go on to serve as the eventual game-winner 4:25 into the middle frame, putting home a rebound off a Jaxon Fuder wrist shot.

Parker Snell was steady in the net for Edmonton, making 25 saves in the win.

Jordan Switzer did all he could, but ultimately allowed five goals on 31 shots.

Three of the Oil Kings goals came on the power play, two of which were five-on-three goals.

Medicine Hat is off until Tuesday night when they host the Regina Pats with another chance to secure the Central Division title with a win.
