Medicine Hat Tigers aim to avenge overtime loss in Family Day Matinee against the Red Deer Rebels

Feb 16, 2026 | 10:11 AM

The Medicine Hat Tigers wrap up a three-game, four-day Family Day weekend this afternoon in a rematch of Friday night’s 5-4 overtime loss against the Red Deer Rebels.

The Tigers dropped a pair of overtime contests on Friday and Saturday night, with the most recent defeat coming 4-3 to the Everett Silvertips.

Red Deer was in action last night at home as they battled to their second consecutive overtime victory, 4-3, this time against the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

Tonight marks the fifth of eight meetings of the regular season between the Tabbies and Rebels.

Each club has a pair of wins in the head-to-head series thus far.

Both of the Rebels’ wins over the Tigers came on home ice and required overtime.

The Tigers will be without Finnish defenseman Veeti Vaisanen for the contest, meaning Gavin Kor will slot in on the blueline.

Jordan Switzer will make the start for the Orange and Black after Carter Casey drew the start in Friday night’s overtime defeat.

Puck drop is slated for 2:00 p.m. MST from inside Co-op Place.

The pre-game show gets underway at 1:30 p.m. on WILD 94.5 FM.
