The February long weekend is here, and temperatures are expected to dip below zero at times over the next few days.

Environment Canada forecasts Friday to be sunny with a high of 9 C before becoming partly cloudy with a low of -3 C, and the wind chill at -8 C overnight.

Saturday’s prediction is sunny in the morning, with a mix of sun and cloud near noon and wind speeds up to 40 km/h. The high is 7 C, with a wind chill of -7 C, which will also be the evening low.

Sunday shows sunny and clear skies, a high of 5 C, and an evening low of -7 C.

Family Day Monday shows sunny skies, a high of 3 C, then shifting to cloudy periods and a low of -3 C in the evening.

🏒 Medicine Hat Cubs playoffs

FRIDAY

The Medicine Hat Cubs quest for a Heritage Junior Hockey League championship begins Friday night with a second-round playoff matchup against the Carstar Okotoks Bisons.

The Cubs, who had a bye in the first round, host the Bisons at the Kinplex Arena at 7:15 p.m.

🎤 Josephine: A Burlesque Cabaret Dream Play

FRIDAY

The Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre is set to host Josephine: A Burlesque Cabaret Dream Play telling the true story of Josephine Baker, as part of Black History Month in Medicine Hat.

The play, proudly presented by MY96 FM, is an international award-winning one-woman biographical musical starring Tymisha Harris, combining cabaret, theatre and dance to tell the story of the iconic Josephine Baker.

The play begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, with limited tickets available for purchase online.

🎨 Art Room on 2nd Grand Opening

FRIDAY

The grand opening of Art Room on 2nd is taking place from 5 to 8 p.m., with a chance to meet the artists and enjoy some chocolate and refreshments.

The ribbon will be cut at 6 p.m.

🐯 Medicine Hat Tigers

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Tigers are on the road Friday night in Red Deer to take on the Rebels at seven.

The radio broadcast on Wild 94.5 FM will begin at 6:45 p.m.

Saturday night, the Tigers host Landon Dupont and the Everett Silvertips at Co-op Place.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m.

Will Bryant and Lance Doll will have the radio broadcast on Wild 94.5 FM, starting with the pre-game at 6:30 p.m.

🐍 Medicine Hat College Ratters

FRIDAY and SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat College Rattlers games at the Snake Pit (Gym) this weekend will include both Volleyball and Basketball.

The volleyball teams host the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks on Friday, with the women playing at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m.

The basketball teams take over the gym on Saturday, hosting the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks, with the women playing at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m.

📽 Movies at the Monarch Theatre

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY, and MONDAY

The Monarch Theatre in Medicine Hat has multiple movies showing this weekend.

The 1982 romantic drama, “An Officer and a Gentleman,” featuring Richard Gere and Debra Winger, is showing Friday at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6 p.m.

Richard Gere returns to the big screen at the Monarch on Saturday night alongside Julia Roberts for the 1990 romantic comedy Pretty Woman. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the movie starts at 7 p.m.

The theatre will be buzzing for a Sunday morning matinee featuring Bee Movie.

This showing is in support of Prairie Rose Honey, a Prairie Rose Public Schools learning initiative that helps students forge future opportunities through hands-on education.

The movie is underway at 2 p.m., and doors open at 1 p.m.

Admission for all movies is $5 cash only, and items at the concession are two for $5.

Monday is a special showing of Zootopia at 5 p.m.

Bring a non-perishable food item for the Root Cellar and enjoy the movie.

FreshCo is sponsoring the event, and a hot dog, hot chocolate and popcorn are also included.

Doors open at 4:45 p.m.

🌮 Valentine’s Day Dinner & Dancing @ Casa Amigos Cantina

Casa Amigos Cantina is inviting couples and friends to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a Dinner & Dancing event with food and a guided Latin dance lesson for couples and groups looking for a fun night out.

Enjoy a shared margarita flight, salsa flight with tortilla chips, a taco flight per person, churros for dessert, and a bachata lesson led by Becky Mae. Guests may also order from the regular menu.

Lessons start at 5:30 p.m. and at 9 p.m.

Tickets for the full dinner-and-dance package are about $100 per couple through Showpass.

The event will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A second time slot is scheduled from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

🎸 Big Sugar Concert

The Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre is set to host Canadian rock band Big Sugar, performing a special two-set show, while celebrating the 30th anniversary of their hit album Hemi-Vison.

Doors open at 7 p.m. with the 18+ show starting at 8 p.m. on Saturday.

👻 Valentine’s Ghost Tour

SATURDAY

Cruise through the moonlit streets of Medicine Hat on Valentine’s Day for the Ghost Tour on the haunted trolley.

When aboard the trolley, stories of Valentine’s folklore and tragic romances will be told.

The tour begins at 7:30 p.m. at Miller’s Emporium, with limited seating available for purchase online.

🎤 HeartSet @ Liquid Concert & Event Venue

SATURDAY

The Liquid Concert & Event Venue is hosting a Vancouver-based Country-Rock band HeartSet for a Valentine’s Day show.

The show takes place on Saturday from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Tickets are on sale online, with a portion of the ticket sales going to the Medicine Hat SPCA.

🕺 “I am a Kind Man” Social Round Dance

SATURDAY

The Miywasin Friendship Centre is organizing the “I am a Kind Man” Round Dance at Medicine Hat College.

This dance is a drug and alcohol free event featuring a pipe ceremony at 4 p.m., a feast at 5 p.m., and traditional circle dancing at 6 p.m. to promote healing, honour, and community connection.

A giveaway also takes place at 9 p.m. as the event concludes at 11 p.m.

The event is open to anyone.

🚜 Farm Toy Show & Sale

The 2026 Medicine Hat Farm Toy Show and Sale is taking place at the Higdon Hall in the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede Grounds.

The toy show is perfect for farmers and anyone interested in tractors, trucks, and tiny collectables.

The doors open on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Admission is $5, with an ATM on site as well as a concession throughout the event.

🎙Comedian Darren Frost at Casa Amigos

SUNDAY

Comedian Darren Frost takes the stage at Casa Amigos in downtown Medicine Hat on Sunday.

It’s part of his Lonely Comics on the Road Comedy Tour.

Frost has toured the world for over 30 years, bringing his unique brand of stand-up comedy.

Openers include Brandi Thomas, Lawrence Wolf, and Kaden Ginnis.

The show starts at 7 p.m. with admission costing $20.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Fun Day @ YMCA

MONDAY

The YMCA in downtown Medicine Hat is hosting an afternoon of fun activities for families to participate in.

The activities include Nerf wars, bouncy castles, wibit, a free lunch, and a chance to win a free family membership for a year by taking photos at the event and tagging the Y.

The event takes place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

A waiver must be signed ahead of time online.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 Family Day Fest @ Big Marble

MONDAY

The Big Marble Go Centre is hosting a Family Day Fest featuring a full facility takeover packed with free activities for all ages.

The day includes swimming with the Wibit obstacle course, hourly Nerf battles, inflatables, public skating, Tot Time, yard games, basketball and Kindermusik with Progression Music.

Food will be available on site, and ticketed spots for swimming and Nerf battles will be released soon.

🌄 Kiwanis Family Day @ Police Point Park

MONDAY

The Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is inviting families to celebrate the 18th annual Family Day at Police Point Park, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Medicine Hat, with support from the City of Medicine Hat Community Vibrancy Grant.

Activities include a free scavenger hunt with prizes, hands-on wildlife kit building to help local birds, interpreters stationed throughout the park, and complimentary cookies and hot chocolate.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with free admission.

Wildlife kits are $8, and dogs are $1.
