Medicine Hat Boxing Club hosts busy Alberta Silver Gloves with over 75 bouts

The Medicine Hat Boxing Club hosted over 75 bouts over two days this weekend for the 2026 Alberta Silver Gloves.

The Jan. 24-25 event at the Medicine Hat Lodge was also the 21st Annual Nieman/Page Memorial.

Taking home hardware were a pair of Medicine Hat Boxing Club fighters, with Jacob Walne winning the Best Jr. C boxer, and Nate Vossler winning the Most Courageous award.

The results for Medicine Hat Boxing Club fighters on Saturday included:

  • Zak Czember lost to Mohammad Shirzad of the Westchester Club in a Jr. B 36kg Novice bout.
  • Jacob Walne defeated Jakop Brandy of Kopas Boxing (Saskatoon) in a Jr. C 60kg Open fight.
  • Ryan McCulloch lost to Jacob Goncalves out of Chestermere in a Jr. C 63kg Novice bout.
  • Colby Carruthers lost to Jude Kojo Antwi of the Westchester Club in an Elite 60kg Novice fight.
  • Nate Vossler lost to Kwaj Jok out of the Southside Legion Boxing Club in an Elite 60kg open bout.
  • Kade Steiger won the Novice final in the Jr. B 48kg category in a bout over Soo Line Boxing Club’s Andrew Palomares.
  • Mardik Kasarjian won the Group B final in the Novice Youth 55kg category over Koehen McLeod from Inner City Boxing out of Prince George, BC.
  • Mitch Heller won the Elite 75kg Novice final over Nicholas Hrehirchuk of the ShadowBox Club.

The results for Medicine Hat Boxing Club fighters on Sunday included:

  • Jacob Walne winning the JR. C 60kg open final over Mason Urquhart out of Albion Boxing Club (Nova Scotia).
  • Quincy McComeau won the Elite 65kg Novice final over Marco Mejia out of the Southside Legion Boxing Club.
