Medicine Hat Tigers avoid late scare, defeat Calgary Hitmen 4-3

Jan 20, 2026 | 10:37 PM

The Medicine Hat Tigers were able to fend off a late Calgary Hitmen comeback attempt to defeat their divisional rivals 4-3.

Carter Casey turned aside 31 of 34 shots faced in the win en route to being named the game’s first star.

After the Hitmen opened the scoring early in the first, the Tigers would respond with the game’s next four goals to take a commanding 4-1 lead.

A Calgary power-play goal with under nine minutes left cut the deficit to two, a deficit that would get shrunk to one with 9.5 seconds remaining in the hockey game.

The Hitmen would win the ensuing draw, generate a pair of quick shots, but Casey turned aside both for the Tigers, securing the club’s 32nd win of the season.

The Tiger offense was powered by Andrew Basha and Noah Davidson, who each added a goal and an assist, along with Liam Ruck and Jonas Woo, who also added tallies.

Eric Tu stopped 27 of 31 shots in the loss for Calgary and was named the games third star.

The Tigers are on the road this weekend for a pair of games against the Saskatoon Blades and Prince Albert Raiders before returning home for another three-game homestand.
