Lineup announced for Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour Stop in Medicine Hat

Jan 7, 2026 | 9:38 AM

The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour begins on Sunday, presented on the big screen at the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre.

There will be three nights of adventure film screenings from Jan. 11-13, starting at 7 p.m. each night.

Head of Adult Services, Keith McLean, discussed in a press release how the films are selected from the nearly 90 films featured at the official festival.

“In general, we look to get a good mix of activities and adrenaline levels in each night,” McLean said.

“Some of our audience love the human interest stories like a man building beehives by hand, while others crave the high-octane stuff.”

There will be 21 films shown over the three days.

Sunday, Jan. 11, will feature “A Brutal, Beautiful Life,” which is described as being set in the Rocky Mountains and high desert, with ranching women, their dogs, horses, and cattle sharing quiet, powerful moments of connection. Showcasing the unseen harmony that binds life on the range.

Monday, Jan. 12, will include a showing of “Bridgers”, a story about two Bozeman-based ski patrollers reflecting on the rapid changes facing their home and the sport they love.

Tuesday, Jan. 13, has a showing of “Reel Rock: Riders on the Storm” about a wall climber who enlists three others to attempt the first free ascent of the Riders on the Storm route on the East Face of Patagonia’s Torre Central. The film does have an advisory for coarse language and nudity.
