Brooks Bandits Head Coach Mason named to BCHL All-Star Game bench

Brooks Bandits head coach Dakota Mason will serve as an assistant coach during the BCHL All-Star Game.

He will be on the bench for Team Canada at the event in Spruce Grove from Jan. 16-18.

Mason is in his third season on the Bandits’ bench.

He spent two years as an assistant under Ryan Papaioannou, before taking on the role after Papaioannou became the head coach of the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers.

Brooks has an 18-9-2 record during Mason’s first season as the head coach, sitting second in the Interior East division.

The Bandits’ offence has shown strong this season, leading the league with 131 goals.

Special teams is also a strength, with the power play ranked second best in the BCHL at 32.1 per cent, and the penalty kill is fifth overall at 80.5 per cent.

The Bandits’ next home game is on Saturday, Jan.3, when they host the West Kelowna Warriors.
