Here is what’s on this weekend in Medicine Hat: October 17-19

It’s heading into the third weekend in October, and Environment Canada’s projections for the weekend include rain potential and strong winds on Friday, but clearing for the rest of the weekend.

Friday, a 30 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon and strong winds gusting up to 50 km/h, which both remain into the early evening. A high of 11 C is expected to fall to 7 C in the afternoon. The potential for showers remains at 30 per cent early in the evening.

Saturday’s projection is Sunny with a high of 13 C. Clear in the evening with a low of 4 C

Sunday is cloudy with a high of 13 C and low of 2 C at night.

🧥 Coats on Finlay

SATURDAY UNTIL SUNDAY

An annual winter coat drive takes place at Finlay Bridge in Medicine Hat this weekend.

Coats on Finlay begins at noon on Saturday.

Donations can be made by leaving winter items, including winter coats, gloves, boots, etc., on the bridge for others to come and pick up.

The items will remain on site for those in need until Sunday at 8 a.m.

❄️ Fall Into Christmas Handmade Market

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY

The Fall Into Christmas Handmade Market is at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Grounds this weekend.

It runs Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Close to one hundred companies will be on site at the Cypress Centre with handmade crafts, jewellery, toys, clothing, food and drink, and more.

🐂 PBR Medicine Hat Classic

SATURDAY

Co-op Place will be taken over by PBR Canada on Saturday night.

Canada’s elite Cup Series of professional bull riders will have 28 riders competing in the event.

A pair of riders from not too far away from Medicine Hat sit in the top three in the PBR Canada national standings.

Eatonia’s Dakota Buttar leads the way heading into the event, with Maple’s Creek’s Jared Parsonage not far behind in third.

This will also be the first ride back with PBR Canada since the spring for Foremost’s William Barrows.

The event features Canada’s best riders alongside some of the organization’s top international athletes, squaring off against the rankest bucking bulls from across the nation.

For one night only, fans will witness exhilarating 8-second rides and wrecks throughout the unpredictable, action-packed event as the PBR’s courageous bull-riding athletes face off against their 1,800-pound opponents born to buck.

The PBR Medicine Hat Classic is the eighth event of the 2025 regular season for PBR Canada’s premier Cup Series.

It starts at 7 p.m. with tickets available at tixx.ca.

🏒 Medicine Hat Cubs

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Cubs have a pair of home games this weekend on Friday and Saturday night.

The Coaldale Copperheads come to the city on Friday.

The Cubs dropped a 4-3 decision on the road to the Copperheads earlier this season.

The Agra Risk Wheatland Kings from Strathmore are the opponent on Saturday in the first regular-season match-up between the two clubs this year.

Both games are at 7:30 p.m. at the Kinplex Arena.

🐍 Rattlers Athletics

FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY

It’s a busy weekend for the Medicine Hat College Rattlers this weekend for hockey and soccer.

The CCAA Golf Nationals will wrap up late Friday afternoon.

This is followed by the Rattlers women’s ice hockey team hosting NAIT at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the Moose Rec Centre, and again on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The final Rattlers home soccer games of the season will be at the Medicine Hat College soccer pitch on Sunday.

The Rattlers men’s team will look to lock down first place in the South Division, coming into the weekend with an 8-0 record.

On Sunday, they take on SAIT, who also has a chance at top spot.

That game goes at 2:15 p.m.

The women’s game between the two schools will be prior, starting at noon.

Playoffs are next weekend in Lethbridge.

🧟‍♂️ Glass House Haunting in Redcliff

FRIDAY, SATURDAY

The Glass House Haunting is a fundraiser put on by the Redcliff Youth Centre. The Haunted House begins Friday night and will run until Halloween.

Days and hours will include:

  • Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Wednesday and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Halloween from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The cost is $10 per person, or $25 for a family of two adults and two kids 12 and under.

All funds will support local youth prevention programs.

The Root Cellar Food & Wellness Hub will also be accepting non-perishable food donations.

😱 Haunted Tour: Scream Edition + St. Dymphna’s Haunted House

FRIDAY, SATURDAY

Miller’s Haunted Tours: Scream Edition promises to plunge you deep into Medicine Hat’s darkest corners with all-new blood-chilling tales and sinister surprises that strike when you least expect them.

The tours kicked off on Thursday, but will run each Thursday through Saturday from Oct. 16-31.

There will be two departures each of those nights at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. from 268 Second St. SE.

Tickets are $50 per person plus fees.

📽️ Hotel Transylvania and The Addams Family at the Monarch Theatre

SATURDAY

The Halloween movies continue at the historic Monarch Theatre this month.

Hotel Transylvania is showing a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m.

Doors open at 1:30 p.m.

The Addams Family shows at the theatre at 7 p.m.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Cost is $5 cash at the door, and 2 items for $5 at the concession.

👮 64th Annual Medicine Hat Police Association Ball

SATURDAY

The Medicine Hat Police Association Ball will have music provided by MacKinney Music at Desert Blume Golf Club.

Tickets are $80 each, or $600 for a table of eight.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Special Olympics.
