Fraud charges for Brooks residents related to contraband cigarettes

Members of the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis tobacco enforcement unit along with Brooks RCMP executed a search warrant at a home in Brooks on September 3, 2025.

Two individuals were each charged with seven offenses in relation to fraud and possession for the purpose of sale of contraband tobacco.

The seizure included 1,603 cartons and 5 packs of contraband cigarettes, along with 72 tubs with 250 grams each of shisha tobacco.

The total retail value of the seized tobacco is estimated at $295,633.43.
